IOWA and the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets
Trademark 2002
This final page of parade photographs taken by Jeremy Bonnelle again captures a special quality of this project that inspires everyone associated with the IOWA. This effort inspires faith in our society. There is a unique sense of national pride in this endeavor that binds the older generations and the cadets, the civilians and the veterans. After the tragic events of September 11, 2002, we applaud and celebrate this spirit of national pride.
From
the faces of these young cadets, it is clear that there is a pride in
marching for the IOWA. These are moments that they and we will never
forget. After years of hard work, it is a privilege to say that from the
beginning, the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets have been in the public's eye supporting IOWA
John
Carlson, our parade coordinator and Navy League Council President, is shown here beside
the HSMPS van and the 13 foot model of the IOWA. John, a former naval aviator
and American Airlines Pilot, organizes all
HSMPS public events. He is a great role model for all the cadets and a mainstay for HSMPS in these parades that have over 100 floats.
Here
is another fine photograph that provides insight into the kind of wide ranging
support the IOWA project generates. No other endeavor in these parades
brings out some many Sea Cadets. They are yet another face of the IOWA project
that continues to grow within our community
Without the parents and adults supporting the Sea Cadets, the youngsters participation in
these parades would not be possible. Here Officer Barbara Shannon (Right),
LTJG. John Gumba (center) and another sponsor share a moment at the conclusion
of this year's St Patrict's Day Parade. HSMPS thanks these dedicated officers of the
Naval Sea Cadet Program for their constant support.
